Stella Leung

Stella Leung is a Statistical Programmer at the Center for Global Public Health within the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine.  She received her B.Sc (2002) and M.Sc in Statistics (2004) from the University of Manitoba.  She has over 10 years of experience in her position designing, developing, testing and implementing computer programs written in SAS for complex research investigation.  Along with performing statistical output and assisting in their interpretation she also consults and works with research units in the University of Manitoba providing advice and guidance on the structure of databases and the most effective approach to analytical problems.  Stella has co-authored over 25 publications in the areas of Gastroenterology, Multiple Sclerosis Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease and STIs.  Her work for the article 'Prevalence and incidence of ischemic heart disease in multiple sclerosis: A population-based validation study' published in 2013 in the journal Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders was one of the 5 most highly cited papers from the journal in 2014 and 2015..  She was a co-recipient of the Bruce Squires Award (2009) for her collaboration on the article entitled 'Use of Proton Pump Inhibitors and Risk of Osteoporosis-Related Fractures' which appeared in the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) in August 2008.
