Alain Bitton, MD, FRCP(C)
Dr. Alain Bitton is Professor of Medicine and is currently the Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). His research in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) has included population-based studies describing the epidemiology of IBD in Quebec and studies identifying prognostic factors predictive of IBD course and recurrence. He is a lead clinician in the Montreal-Boston Collaborative IBD Genetic Research Center that is part of the NIDDK IBD Genetics Consortium (IBDGC). He is also a member of the IBD Genomic Medicine (iGenoMed) Consortium, aiming to translate genetic discoveries into clinical applications. Dr. Bitton has championed the creation of the MUHC IBD center which serves as a multidisciplinary platform for delivery of care to IBD patients.
